Welcome to a living community of faith

Wesley Uniting Church, which was formerly Yarra Street Methodist Church, has been a community of Christian worship and witness since 1842. As a result of the formation of the Uniting Church in Australia (UCA) during 1977 the members of the Wesley Methodist Congregation (Yarra Street), St. Giles Presbyterian Church and the Geelong Congregational Church combined to form the one community that now worships at Wesley.

Worship services are held each Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. The 10:45 a.m. service reflects a traditional approach to worship while the earlier service includes more modern music and congregational involvement. Other opportunities for worship include a weekly Wednesday morning Holy Communion service starting at 9:00 a.m. and 'Worship on Thursday' in the Chapel from 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. This is a time for quietness, reflection, prayer and music.

On your visits to Wesley you will discover that during the working week many people use the church as a place of sanctuary and rest away from the busy city. The urn is always boiling so feel free to drop in at any time.

South Geelong Uniting Church, which was formerly the South Geelong Methodist Church, can rightly lay claim to being the birthplace of Wesleyan worship in Geelong. There is evidence that a Wesleyan congregation worshipped in the "southern township" of Geelong from 1839 and probably from 1838. Worship on the current site commenced in 1854 and in the current building in 1869. A worship service is held every Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

The Geelong City Parish sponsors various outreach projects including the Wesley Centre for Life Enrichment. Details of the Centre's activities and programs are available through this web site using the appropriate links on the left of this page.
