Our History

In 1942, the Yarra Street Methodist Church commenced its outreach ministry.

In the 1980’s and 1990’s community outreach consisted of cooking, personal support groups, sporting, crafts and exercise groups - all under the umbrella of the “Wesley Centre.  The Centre’s Counselling Service grew following an emphasis on specialised personal and spiritual development, meditation, and degree level theological subjects.

In 2003 and a greater focus on personal needs saw the coming together of, “Wesley Centre” and the “The Life Enrichment Centre Inc”. Thus the establishment of the “Wesley Centre for Life Enrichment Counselling Services”.

2017 A time of Change

The Wesley Centre for Life Enrichment has joined with 22 other UnitingCare agencies and Wesley Mission Victoria to become Uniting (Victoria and Tasmania) Limited. Building a stronger advocacy voice, improving access to broader resources and skills to meet clients’ needs. This change provides the best opportunity for continuing our important work in the community for many years to come.

Uniting’s purpose is to inspire people, enliven communities and confront injustice.

“We are Uniting to have greater impact.”
