There are two walking groups operating. One commences at 10am every Friday and the other at 9.30am on the third Saturday every month. The groups have been in existence 30 and 20 years respectively. The groups enjoy walks near the seaside in the summer months and the magnificent forest walks during the rest of the year when the fire danger is over.
In the past, when we were younger, we would walk 10 to 12 km each outing, but now, with the average age of the walkers about 80, the walks have been reduced to 6 to 8 km, with a coffee break.
The Wesley Walkers are a group of up to 20 in number dressed to tackle any track in reasonable weather. We travel from the church to our destination and walks are about 2 hours duration which includes a coffee break.
A cut lunch is welcome at the conclusion of the walk when a number of stories, true or false, are shared. Some of the walks include Pt Lonsdale, Torquay, Barwon River walks, Anglesea and Moggs Creek.
The Friday Walkers walk every week and are a group of people who have joined because of their interest in walking. Walks are more adventurous and include Anakie Gorge, St George River Lorne and Steiglitz Historic Park.
Once a year we travel to some destination in Victoria from Monday to Friday staying in cabins or motel accommodation.
