What is contemplation and how does if effect my Christian journey? This exploration is based on the reflections and insights from three modern day contemplatives Thomas Merton (1915-1968) a Catholic monk and hermit), Richard Rohr (a Franciscan priest, and world renowned author, founder of The Centre of Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque) and Rev. Ray Simpson (Guardian of the Community of Aidan and Hilda, Holy Island UK). This evening seeks to discover some of the gentle and life giving elements of living an authentic contemplative Christian life for lay people today. We will explore some of the common myths and misunderstandings as well as the many graces of the contemplative perspective. This one evening has the potential to be a regular ongoing experience if the need arises.
